It Was Just An Accident (2025) is the award-winning film by Iranian director Jafar Panahi. Vahid, a former political prisoner, encounters a man he suspects is his former sadistic jailor. He kidnaps the man and gathers some ex-prisoners, including a photographer and a couple on their wedding day, to confirm the man’s identity and decide how to seek revenge. A dramatic thriller that won the 2025 Palme d’Or at Cannes and is nominated for two Academy Awards, Best International Feature Film and Best Screenplay.
