Free with your library card
Gale Courses
Start an interactive, teacher-led, online class through Gale Courses. There are hundreds of courses starting every month on dozens of topics. All Gale courses are 24 hours long and take 6 weeks to complete. If you pass a final exam you are issued a Certificate of Completion. Take as many as you want. All courses are free to library members.

Newmarket Library will not be renewing its subscription to Gale Courses at the end of the current term on September 29, 2025. We encourage users to complete any course work currently in progress, and to not enroll in new courses.
Although Gale Courses had some unique content, similar course offerings are available on LinkedIn Learning, which has over 16,000 courses to choose from. Language learning is available on Mango Languages. and job readiness tools and adult learning options are available on Brainfuse: Job Now.
All of these are excellent alternatives to explore when looking for online courses.
