New portal for Interlibrary Loan Service is here
The current Interlibrary Loan portal known as VDX/Zportal will retire on November 11. You will not be able to request library items through the portal after this date. The links have been removed below but you can directly make requests at the Collections Information Desk on the Lower Level until November 11. Ontario Public Libraries will be using the new system, Resource Sharing for Groups as of November 12. Please be assured that any requests made through the VDX/Zportal prior to November 12 will continue to be processed by Library staff.
Patron-initiated requests will not be available at this time, but this will be coming soon. However, you will be required to sign up for a new account in Resource Sharing for Groups.
What is Interlibrary Loan?
If you can't find a title or author in our library catalogue, we can try to borrow it from another library. If the item was published within the last 6 months, please complete a Suggest a Purchase form, because they are too new to request from another library.
How can I sign up? |
You can register for the new Resource Sharing for Groups platform by using the online form or by visiting the Collections Information Desk on the Lower Level. You must be a member of the library with a valid library card. |
How does it work? |
Once you have an account we can place the request for you at the Collections Information Desk on the Lower Level. We will notify you by telephone or email that the item is ready for borrowing. |
How long does it take? |
A request can take about two to three weeks. Some requests may take longer depending on the location of the lending library and the availability of the title. |
How long can I keep it? |
Three weeks is the usual loan period. The lending library decides the loan period and if renewals are possible. For renewals, please contact us at least one week before the due date for your item. |
How do I place my own request? |
Not available currently but coming soon.
If you have any questions or need assistance please contact the Collections Information Desk on the Lower Level.
