Food and delivery service

  • Newmarket Food Pantry Call to book appointment for food hamper delivery 905-895-6823 extension 120
  • Take-out meals available from Inn From the Cold and community partners (see Drop By program below)
  • Food Bank of York Region (FBYR) Home delivery of food, household consumables and personal products. First-come, first-served for those eligible. Order online. 
  • Routes Connecting Communities Ride and delivery service. Free delivery of food hampers, medication and groceries for those eligible. Friendly calls for people who are frightened and/or socially isolated 905-722-4616 or email info@routescc.org
  • Pink Cars Volunteer service help with booking and transportation to Covid-19 vaccination. Contact online for assistance or to volunteer with Pink Cars.
  • Meals on Wheels (CHATS) Call for contactless meal, grocery and prescription delivery orders for CHATS clients. Free food hampers for those eligible. Call 1-877-452-4287 or voicemail box 905-713-3373 extension 7021 
  • Rose of Sharon Online programs for pregnant and parenting young mothers. Counselling support for pregnant and parenting young moms experiencing higher levels of anxiety and stress. Virtual high school and delivered care packages of diapers, wipes, baby formula and cereal 905-853-5514
  • CHATS COVID-19 Support Services Call for support with getting food and groceries, urgent personal support and homemaking services, getting to medical appointments or if you need to talk to someone. Virtual social and wellness programs 1-877-452-4287

Shelter and crisis support

  • COPE Community Crisis Response Service for persons who are having a mental health crisis, and their family or friends call or text 1-855-310-COPE (2673). Online Live text or chat 7 a.m. to midnight.
  • Loft/Crosslinks Outreach van for access to food, clothing and shoes, sleeping bags, tents, tarps and blankets, needle exchange supplies. Information and referrals to shelters and other community support. Call 1-866-553-4053 between 2pm and 9pm 7 days a week to arrange a meeting place and time. 
  • Kids Help Phone Free confidential help 24/7 online or call 1-800-668-6868 or text 686868.
  • Inn From the Cold Drop-by program with access to showers, Internet access, lunch and snacks Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Multi-purpose room at Ray Twinney Complex, 100 Eagle Street West, entrance on northwest side of building. Call 289-763-9244 for more information.
  • Emergency housing for individuals and couples 1-877-464-9675 ext. 76140, families with children 1-888-554-5525.
  • CHATS COVID-19 Support Services Call for support with getting food and groceries, prescriptions, urgent personal support and homemaking services, getting to medical appointments or if you need to talk to someone. Virtual social and wellness programs 1-877-452-4287.
  • Belinda's Place Drop-by support and services for women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Call 289-366-4673 or text 905-955-7274 to book appointment.
  • Salvation Army - Northridge Church support with food, clothing, furniture, rent, energy assistance, recovery support and more. Call or visit website to request help 905-895-6276.

Employment and legal help

  • ACCES Employment Register for online webinars for job seekers and online ESL chats, access online Resource Centre and call 647-827-1241 for help accessing Employment Ontario programs.
  • Jobskills Register for online workshops and events. One-on-one employment counselling for jobseekers and employers call 1-866-592-6278 or email info@jobskills.org.
  • JVC Youth Reach York Region Over the phone and online employment support for youth ages 15 to 30. Call Tim Greenwood 905-713-6244 or Samia Nuru 647-462-8117.
  • RNC Employment Services Offers online workshops, Hot Jobs page for urgent and current local job opportunities. Call 905-727-3777 and press 0 to book phone appointment.
  • Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO) answers questions about your legal rights related to employment, housing, family and more.

Government assistance

  • York Support Services's Up Hub and Up Your Life guide peer-based guide with contact information for over 400 community agencies and services.  
  • Regional Municipality of York Programs and resources for people in abusive situations, people experiencing homelessness, supports for tenants and landlords, as well as persons with disabilities, caregivers, seniors and newcomers. Call Access York 1-877-464-9675 Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or dial 2-1-1 24 hours a day.
  • Ontario Emergency Assistance Apply online or call 1-877-464-9675 for short term financial help to pay for food and housing.
  • Federal Government Assistance Programs and services for individuals, families and businesses including increases to government benefits and tax credits, the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), student loan relief, small business wage subsidies, business credit and more.
  • Newmarket Chamber of Commerce's business support resources Information on business supports by the Federal, Provincial, Municipal governments as well as grants, funding, PPE information.

COVID-19 Vaccination

  • Register online for your COVID-19 vaccination appointment.
  • York Region Public Health continues to update information about who is eligible to book a vaccine, how to prepare for your vaccine and vaccine clinic locations.
  • Visit trusted sources for information on COVID-19 vaccines and Ontario's vaccination plan.
  • Call 1-844-301-8080 for the Newmarket vaccination clinic or 1-877-464-9675 for eligibility questions and interpretation services.
  • Register for our vaccination booking information program.
