Library Cards
A Newmarket Public Library card or e-access card is free if you are a resident of Ontario. Your library card gives you access to the library's computers as well as the Online Library from anywhere including ebooks, audiobooks, films, movies, magazines, music and more. An e-access card is a membership card that allows use of our Online Library only. Guest passes are available at Customer Service for visitors to access the library's computers.
Getting a library card
Register online for a Newmarket Public Library card or e-access card or in person at the library. If applying online, your new card number will be emailed to you and your card will be ready to use.
NOTE: Good news if you’ve been awaiting your library card by mail during the Canada Post strike: we will mail your card at the beginning of January. This will allow time for mail delivery services to resume at normal capacity. If you are signing up for a new membership from December 16 onwards, you can expect your card to be mailed to you at the beginning of January. However, it will be active and ready to use online with the details included in your welcome email. If you’d like to get your physical card sooner, you can pick it up in person at 438 Park Avenue, Newmarket. We’d love to meet you and show you around! If visiting isn’t an option, we’ll mail your card to the address on your account as soon as the strike is resolved. Visit our Online Library page to see e-books, e-audiobooks, streaming movies and music, and more – available 24/7.
Renewing your card
Both full-access and e-access Newmarket Public Library cards are renewed every 2 calendar years with valid ID. Please visit the library with valid ID or renew your card online. All outstanding balances must be paid before a card can be renewed. If you have a balance, please call or visit the library to pay all outstanding charges. Not sure if you have charges?
