This year, Newmarket Public Library is looking for your help to make our community workshops and events even better. NPL provides programs and events throughout the year for people of all ages, at little or no cost to participants. Yet there is a substantial cost to the library to run these programs. A donation helps ensure that the library’s quality programming will continue to provide people with the opportunity to learn new skills, enjoy family activities, improve literacy, prepare to find work, explore their creativity, gain knowledge, and be entertained. Your contribution is gratefully appreciated.

Ways to donate

Newmarket Public Library is a charitable organization registered with the Canadian Revenue Agency. While the Library is funded in part by municipal tax dollars, we need your help to meet the needs of our community.

We thank and appreciate the generosity of our donors. Your support helps ensure our long-term financial stability.

Direct donation

Donations are accepted in person, online and by mail. Please make any cheques out to “Newmarket Public Library”. Donations over $20.00 are eligible for a tax receipt, please provide your name and contact information when making your donation.

Materials donations

We accept donations of books and other materials that we loan. The items must be in good condition and suit our needs. Please bring them directly to Customer Service. Do not put them in the book return or outside the library. We use donated items for loan, sale or other purposes.

Due to recent generous donations of materials we are unable to accept donations of children's and young adult (teen) materials at this time.

We also accept donations for the Lendery. Please see more information about items we accept.

Adopt a magazine program

You can help the Library by paying for a one-year subscription to a magazine for loan. If you want, we will put a donor card featuring your name on the magazine. Please contact us to find out which magazines are available to adopt or to suggest a new one.

In Memoriam

Traditionally when a friend or a loved one passes on, flowers are sent to the family of the deceased. Often, in lieu of flowers, families will ask for a donation to be made to a not-for-profit organization as a form of tribute. An In Memoriam donation to Newmarket Public Library is a meaningful way to pay tribute to the memory of someone who cared about their community.

When we receive an In Memoriam donation, we will work with the donor and the next of kin to establish a meaningful tribute.

Sponsorships, Advertising and Other Donations

The Library welcomes all sorts of collaborations, sponsorships, and donations from community groups, not-for-profits and other organizations that support our mission and mandate.

Please contact the administrative department directly to learn more about sponsorships and other types of donations.
