The Era-Banner Newspaper Index covers the years 1852 – 1929 and 1980 up to the present. Stories concerning Newmarket, East Gwillimbury, & York Region are indexed The index gives dates and information regarding photographs and articles about local people, local groups, forthcoming and special local events.
Newmarket Digital Newspaper Project
Browse through The Era newspaper’s past. Check out NPL’s digitized issues of Newmarket newspapers from 1852-1861, 1874-1882 and 1930-1950. The Newmarket Digital Newspaper Project is created and maintained by the Newmarket Public Library using software from Our Ontario.
The Newmarket Courier/Era (1863 - 2010) - NEW!
Newmarket newspapers, from as early as 1863 until as recent as 2010, are available on the Our Ontario Community Newspapers Collection website. These editions will be integrated into the library’s existing collection on the Newmarket Digital Newspaper Project website shortly. When combined, papers from 1852 until 1977 will be accessible for research, exploration and discovery. The library will be adding to available years; partial years currently include 1984, 1985 and 2010.

Fully digitized and searchable online database of the Toronto Star newspaper since 1894; includes the editorial and opinion articles, business pages, photos, advertisements, classified ads, political cartoons, obituaries, birth and marriage notices, in addition to the news that shaped each day.
