Classes

Newmarket Public Library hosts a continuous intake York Region District School Board Adult English as a Second Language– Intermediate class, Monday to Friday 9:30 am- 12:30pm. Register for all classes at Newmarket Public Library. Bring your immigration documents. For more information please call 905-731-9557.

Books, Audio and Video

The library has a collection of English as a Second Language (ESL) books on the main floor in the northeast corner near the CD collection. The literacy collection is also found there; it is a small collection of books that are for people who are learning to read English or wish to read abridged versions. Additionally, ESL audio visual material and books can be found in the Children’s and Adult collection. Search our Online Public Access Catalogue or ask at the Information Services desk on each floor.

 

As part of the Southern Ontario Multilingual Pool, the library provides a collection of books and DVDs in many different languages, including these new additions:

 

Print Materials: Arabic, Chinese, German, Japanese, Hungarian, Persian, Polish, Russian, Spanish

Video/DVD: Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese
