GENERAL INFORMATION

Reading Buddies
Reading Buddies is a literacy-based program for children who need reading encouragement. Children in grades 1 – 4 will meet one-on-one with a high school or adult volunteer tutor for ten one-hour sessions. If you are interested in obtaining a Reading Buddy for your child, please ask at the Children’s Services Information Desk or call 905-953-5110.

Tutors will be interviewed, trained and matched with a child. Tutors will also be screened through a police check. The program will be monitored by the Head of Children’s Services. This is a great opportunity for committed teens who are interested in contributing to the development of a child to fulfill their community service hours. Volunteers must be willing to commit to the full ten weeks.

Teens or interested adults who wish to volunteer as Reading Buddies can pick up an application form at the Children's Services Information Desk or call 905-953-5110 for more information. The next program start date is expected to take place in September. Opportunities are limited so we regret that we may not be able to fill all applications. This is an ongoing program so we are always looking for interested buddies and tutors.

Paws 'n Tales
Sundays 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
