• Library cards are free to Newmarket residents and current library card holders of the York Public Libraries Network (YPLN) which include Aurora, Markham, Richmond Hill and Vaughan.
• Proof of name and address is required to obtain a card. Proof of name and address may be the same document if the identification has a photograph. Otherwise, 2 documents are required. Proof of address can be your Valid Ontario Driver's Licence, Ontario Motor Vehicle Permit Property Tax Bill, Age of Majority Card, Old Age Security Card, etc. Proof of name can be your Birth Certificate, Valid Ontario Driver's Licence, Passport, Social Insurance Number, Student ID Card, etc.
• Children under 18 require a parent's signature and the parent must be present when the child receives the card.
• Always bring your card to borrow material.
• Cards are non-transferable.

• Non-residents may pay a $30 annual fee to become a member.
• Non-resident students may pay a $15 annual fee to become a member.

• Most loans are for 3 weeks; some high-demand items may by for a shorter period of time.
• Materials may be renewed twice, unless an item has been reserved.
• You may renew material in person, by phone, by TeleCirc, or via the Internet. TeleCirc and Internet renewals require both your library card and PIN numbers.
• Please note that the Library has an overnight return slot.

   No overdue charges when the computer knows you're a senior.

Processing Fees
   When material is lost the Library will add a $5 non-refundable processing fee to the cost of the item.

Placing Holds
   You can place a hold on a circulating item by using our Online Catalogue, or by phoning the Library. You will be notified by TeleCirc or by email when the item is available for pickup. If you are going on vacation, you can temporarily suspend your holds through our online catalogue.

   To access your Library account through the online catalogue or through TeleCirc you will need:

   Your Newmarket Public Library membership card number

   Your PIN number

Lost Cards
   You are responsible for any item borrowed on your Library card. Your Library card is non-transferable and replacement cost is $2.
