The library gratefully accepts donations of books and magazines. Please note these items are subject to the following section of the library's Collection Development Policy:
Gifts and Donations:
The Newmarket Public Library welcomes gifts and donations of books and other library materials from individuals or groups. The same criteria and guidelines that apply to the selection and de-selection of all library materials are used to evaluate gifts. It is understood that gifts are freely given without conditions attached, unless specifically negotiated beforehand, and that all donations will be used or disposed of, as the Library deems appropriate. Once received, materials are the exclusive property of the Newmarket Public Library. Cash donations and bequests of money may be made to the Library. The donor may request that these funds be used for the development of a specific area of the collection, but the Library Board reserves the right to select materials it deems appropriate.
adopt a magazine
The library offers an Adopt a Magazine program where local individuals, organizations and businesses support the Library's magazine collection by donating to the cost of a magazine subscription.
Southlake Cinemania
The Library was the lucky recipient of a grant from Southlake Cinemania in 2009 which allowed us to provide or improve upon a number of services for our users.
Suncor Energy
In both 2009 and 2010 the NPL was the receipent of a grant from Suncor Energy. Suncor donates money to organization's where their own staff volunteer their time. Board member Michael Castro graciously donated this money to the Library. The money will be used to support technology.
Supporting the NPL goes beyond supporting our programs but extends to the fundamental role the public library plays in our community. Support can come in any number of ways: support of intellectual freedom and equality of access to information. Use the library, attend our many programs and events, and participate in advocacy efforts such as the Friends of the Library.
Children's Summer Reading Club
Each summer the NPL participates in the TD Summer Reading Club. The Newmarket Public Library would like to gratefully acknowledge the generosity of the businesses who donated prizes for the 2010 TD Summer Reading Club. Your interest in this worthwhile program makes it a success.
